Join Catholic Worker House June 4th–7th at 1014 5th Ave SE (corner of 5th Ave & 10th St) for our Community Garage Sale Weekend! From 12-6pm Thursday and Friday and 9am-6pm Saturday and sunday
This is becoming more than just a garage sale — we are working to make it a large community event filled with shopping, vendors, handmade items, baked goods, food trucks, and local small businesses coming together to support women, children, and families in our care.
Are you, or do you know, a local small business, crafter, baker, artist, or vendor who would like to partner with us during the event? We would love to work together and help highlight local community talent while supporting Catholic Worker House.

Right now, our cleaning supply shelves are nearly empty, and these everyday items are urgently needed to help us continue caring for the families staying at Catholic Worker House. With multiple families, children, shared bathrooms, kitchens, and common spaces being used daily, supplies like trash bags, disinfecting wipes, floor cleaner, and dish soap go quickly. These items help us maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for every person who walks through our doors. As we continue serving women, children, and families in crisis, we are asking our community to help us restock our shelves and keep our homes running with dignity, cleanliness, and care. Every donation—big or small—makes an immediate impact. You can also take a look at our Amazon Wish List for our most current and urgent needs.

This June, Catholic Worker House is focusing on restoring dignity through the everyday essentials many families are struggling to afford. From hygiene products and diapers to school supplies and household basics, these items help bring comfort, confidence, and stability to the women and children staying in our care. As summer begins, our shelves are running extremely low, and we are hoping to get a jump start on June so we can make the biggest impact possible before needs continue to rise. Every donation—big or small—helps us continue creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment where families can begin building a better tomorrow. ✝️ 💗

Looking for a meaningful way to give back as a family, friend group, church, business, or organization? Consider signing up to provide a recurring meal for the families at St. John of the Cross Catholic Worker House. We are currently looking for meal sponsors for the 1st Monday, 1st Wednesday, 1st Thursday, 2nd Thursday, 3rd Sunday, 3rd Tuesday, 3rd Saturday, 4th Friday, and all 5th weekday opportunities when they occur. Fifth-week meal spots are especially important because food donations are often at their lowest at the end of the month — yet the need remains just as high.
Meals can be provided in many different ways. You may bring a fully prepared meal, prepare dishes ahead of time for us to heat, drop off frozen meals in advance, or simply donate the food items so the house can cook the meal. A complete meal typically includes a main dish, a side or vegetable, a drink, and a fruit or dessert. Disposable pans are welcome, or you may bring your own dishes and pick them up the next day. You are never required to stay and serve, but you are always welcome to join us for dinner, conversation, or games. We recommend forming a small group of about four people — it’s a beautiful way for friends and families to come together while helping build a better tomorrow.
We are also looking for donations to help stock our pantry and spice cabinet. Many of our clients stay in on weekends and prepare their own lunches, and every morning families make their own breakfasts together. Donations of spices, seasonings, cooking oils, pancake mix, cereal, oatmeal, lunch items, snacks, sandwich supplies, coffee, tea, and other pantry staples help ensure that no one in our house ever goes hungry and that families can enjoy meals that feel comforting and personal.
To sign up or ask questions, please contact Ashley Fries at afries@catholicworkerhousecr.org. We are happy to work with you and make the process eas

Come volunteer with us—help maintain the property, organize the shelter, teach our children something new, or become a sponsor or mentor. Every role makes a difference, and every person matters.

Service is one of the greatest gifts our community can give. At Catholic Worker House, many of the daily tasks that keep our shelter running are done through the hands and hearts of volunteers. From cleaning and organizing to yardwork, repairs, decorating, cooking, or sharing a special skill, every act of service helps create a safe and welcoming home for the women and children we serve. We are always open to new ideas and talents your family, church, business, or group may want to share. If you have a passion, skill, or project idea, we would love to work together to help build a better tomorrow..
Your donation can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. With your help, we can continue to provide vital services and support to those in need. Every little bit helps, so please consider making a donation today.

Our Amazon Wish List is more than just a list—it’s a living, real-time reflection of what our shelter needs most. As new needs arise, they are added, ensuring that what you see is exactly what is needed right now.
From everyday essentials like air filters to items that bring comfort, activity, and joy, each need listed helps us care for the children and families who call Catholic Worker House home. This is also a meaningful way to support our kids—bringing smiles, creating moments of joy, and reminding them they are seen and loved. And with summer not far off, these small moments of joy matter more than ever.
Amazon may not be where you choose to shop—and that’s okay. This list simply serves as a guide, a window into our current needs. However you choose to give, you are helping us meet real, immediate needs and create a space filled with care, comfort, and hope.

"Give, and it will be given to you... For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Come spend a little time with us at CWH. Whether you want to lend a hand, help organize, bake cookies with the kids, or play Uno, there’s a place for you here. Bring your children—they’re always welcome. This is where community becomes family.
We are also seeking church buddies to walk alongside our clients as they explore new churches—someone to go with them, support them, and help them feel at home.
Come see what we’re all about. You don’t really know us until you’ve experienced us.
