St. John of the Cross Catholic Worker House (CWH) is a 501(c)3 Non-profit organization.
We are a homeless shelter who provides housing to married couples and single women, with or without children. Our homes are a place of warmth and welcome.
Our guests can stay between 30-90 days. While this is our guideline we do understand that each individual is unique and we treat them as such.
At CWH we practice what we preach! We want everyone to not only find housing, employment and quality of life but also true happiness within. We want them to not just exist but to exceed they're own expectations.
We are dedicated to serving the needs of our local community. From providing food and shelter to those in need to offering Case Management and Aftercare services.
We are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those around us. By supporting Catholic Worker House, you are supporting your community and helping to build a brighter future for all.
Our clients meet weekly with the House Manager and the Assistant house manager. During this meeting time they are encouraged to fill out job applications, find housing, set goals and show progress.
We will help by assisting with resumes, job searches and interview skills.
In 2023-2024 CWH started to offer an Aftercare Program. This program first helps our client to move home by making a referral for Central Furniture Rescue.
We then will provide a move-in basket packed by Catholic Daughter's of America.
Then we follow them home, help them unpack and get organized. We want to make the process seamless for our client.
We want to support them with resources, items needed and hands on help.
We call ourselves The Dorothy Day Doers! "Whatever you need help with we are there to lend a hand."
We are currently seeking volunteers to help clean, unpack, organize and more! We are also looking for individuals with a truck or trailer that we could call upon when our clients move out.
